Hello everyone! For this semester I will be the head of Jag Insight, which will include special honors and events, Student of the Month, Jagfirmations, and my favorite, Book of the Month! (Shocker, right?) I will have four books for the Book of the Month; a pre-k - 1st book, a 2nd - 5th book, a 6th - 8th book, and a 9th - 12th book. Each month will be a different genre. I will email teachers and select students a small list of questions asking them about their favorite book of the selected genre. From the list, and my personal library, I will choose the four Books of the Month! Everyone please keep your eyes open for an email!

Most people would call it revenge, but it was more than just revenge. The boys from Guthrie rolled into Newcastle on Friday being the underdog, but that didn't scare the mean green away. The boys from Guthrie picked right were they left off from last weeks game with their running game. Tucker Brendle started off the game with a 50 yard touchdown run with great blocking by the front line. The big foot of Christian Rocha added the extra point and the Jags were up 8-0. The solid defense stood tall and shut down the Newcastle running game and forced the Bobcats to punt on their opening drive. The Jaguars got the ball back and with the second play from scrimmage Landon Roberts took it for a 37 yard touchdown run. I don't know about you guys, but does the running attack of Guthrie seem good or what? Quarterback Christian Rocha was 5 for 7 on extra points and put the Jags up 14-0, but the scoring wasn't over just yet. With the ball back, the fast and tough running of Brendle rolled into the end-zone from 33 yards out and the Jags went up 22-0. The Jags back on defense, didn't let the Bobcats go anywhere. With a great diving interception from Safety Zac O'Neal, the impressive offense got the ball back. The first play from scrimmage, Christian Rocha threw a 36 yard bomb to Landon Roberts and put the jags up 28-0 ending the first quarter. Starting the second quarter the Jags didn't let up, and the Jags kept their foot on the throttle. With the ball back, the offense from Guthrie pounded the ball into the end-zone behind their big frontline for a 5 yard touchdown by Brendle. And the Jags were up 36-0. The Jaguars defense isn't something to be over looked, they kept the Newcastle Bobcats from only getting 3 first downs the whole game. Once again the mean green got the ball back and again Tucker Brendle Rolled into the endzone from 5 yards out behind the front-line. Which put the Jags up 42-0. The rush from Tucker Brendle and Graden Garrison, and LT Sharp and McClendon Hill the Bobcats couldn't even get a pass of without someone in their face. With the ball again, Brendle put it into the end-zone from 5 yards out again and put the Jags up 50-0. Some of the younger Jags got some action during the second, with Paden Rothwell and Kolby Jones getting some rushing yards. The last defensive play Christian Rocha reeled in a interception that ended the game. The Jaguars look to keep on rolling next week as they take on the Hornets from Aspermont. Tucker Brendle runs through as Landon Roberts lands a block. Former McMurry Cheerleader Kyra Sloan and the 2014-2015 Guthrie High School cheerleaders hosted a mini-cheer camp on Saturday, September 1st. Fifteen little K-5 girls attended. They were taught a cheer, chant, and a dance. They performed at the pep-rally on September 5th.
